Stitching Weekend

Just got back from a fantastic stitching weekend in Leakey at the Alto Frio "resort". For the first time, I was the last one stitching on Friday night -- stayed up until 0130! Of course, I had to take a 3 hour nap on Saturday -- wow -- stitching can be tiring! I'll post some pictures later on! It was a wonderful weekend = the talent of these ladies is totally awesome!

In Memory of My Coty 1994 - 2008

It was one year ago today when I held you in my arms for the last time. It still breaks my heart to think of you. You were such a good and loving dog. I hope you are enjoying Minnesota -- it will be spring soon and you will have company at the lake. I miss you so much. I have 2 cats now and I truly love them. I think you would have enjoyed antagonizing them. I know you and Angel are in a happy place now and you aren't in any pain.

Cross Stitch 101 Graduation

3 new cross stitch addicts are born!
Congratulations to Myra, Carolyn and Ruth!

We had a great time!

Thanks to Penny and Cindy for their helpful hints and to Val for sharing her hardanger runner with them -- everyone oohed and aahed. I'll have to take a picture next time!

I worked on my "Rhapsody in Blue" by 4 Oaks -- I only had to rip out the A twice! Finally finished it and rang the little bell!

Stitching Class

I'm teaching a beginning cross stitch class Saturday, 21 March at Stitches from the Heart. If you could tell these "newbies" just one thing, what would it be?

Happy St Patrick's Day

If my father had lived, he would be 100 years old today! That is so weird!

Penny Update

I talked to Penny earlier and she is doing fine. Hopes to get home tomorrow. Keep her in your prayers!

In Memory of My Angel 1996 - 2007

It's been 2 years since you left me and I still miss you so much. I know you are guarding all those in Heaven! You were a great companion!
P.S. I have 2 cats now -- definitely not the same as having dogs but they help fill the void. Posted by Picasa

Stitching time

I actually stitched a bit tonight -- most of the time I spent correcting errors on the Quaker Christmas chart that Anita told me about. Fortunately, I didn't have to reverse stitch anything I'd done so far! Will post a new picture this weekend. Happy stitching everyone! Anita also sent me a copy of a free sampler pattern that I just love -- not very big either! Just what I need - another sampler!

Celebration

I'm off to Stitches from the Heart to spend some quality time with my stitching friends. We are going to celebrate Penny's birthday which is actually tomorrow. Haven't decided what I'm going to work on -- maybe I'll start something new - like I don't have enough UFOs already!

Quaker Christmas

I must be crazy -- I'm doing this on 40 count over 2 = I love working on the little motifs == gives one a sense of accomplishment when you finish! Of course, I changed the threads and the fabric! Maybe I'll finish by Christmas 2009. To see a finished piece check out Cindy's blog -- it's awesome!

This was so much fun to stitch! It's from "The Sunflower Seed" == they have some really cute patterns.

Quaker Item

This is one of the few pieces where I followed the colors exactly! La D Da Quakeresque Alphabet
Sharon at Stitches from the Heart framed it perfectly

Old Sampler

This is a replica of a sampler my grandmother stitched in 1910 on the way to the US from Yugoslavia -- she was 15 at the time. My sister has the original. The original was stitched on white/ecru linen using red thread and gray for the Initial S. I used Belfast Raw Linen and Gentle Arts thread (purples). This was also finished by Carol Milburn -- another wonderful job!

The Dreaming

This is by Dinky Dyes -- I used Luna Park and Peridot -- it was fun to stitch -- really glad I had the Needlework UpLight . Carol Milburn did the finishing -- she has a wonderful eye for color and putting these things together!

Out of my Mind!

This is by Michelle Ink Designs -- I used the suggested fibers but changed the fabric. The leaves took forever and the big joke around Stitches from the Heart was if I was ever going to finish the tree. Sharon and Frances have a bell on the stitching table -- we get to ring it when we finish a project -- I rang softly when I finished the leaves and rang the cowbell when I finished the whole thing!

Penny and her dog Molly

We wore them both out with our constant chatter and laughter. Molly was so happy to get her Mom to sit still! Penny was the perfect hostess! Thank you, Penny, for an awesome stitch night!

Carol and her beads

Carol using the "Tacky BOB" -- great invention -- when it fell on the floor she didn't lose a single bead!
